Objectives of the Centre of Excellence (CoE)


The Centre of Excellence (CoE) aims to strengthen India’s electronics ecosystem through the following key objectives:

  • Establish State-of-the-Art Infrastructure:
    Develop dedicated facilities for research, design, development, and testing of mobile handset accessories and other electronic products based on lithium-ion (Li-ion) cell technology.
  • Foster Innovation and Entrepreneurship:
    Create a thriving innovation ecosystem by offering validation, prototyping, and incubation support for start-ups, entrepreneurs, and small to medium enterprises (SMEs), encouraging the commercialization of cutting-edge ideas.
  • Develop Industry-Ready Talent:
    Conduct specialized training programs and workshops aligned with current industry needs to nurture a skilled workforce equipped with practical knowledge and technical proficiency.
  • Promote Collaborative Research & Cost Efficiency:
    Facilitate a neutral, interoperable, multi-technology stack laboratory that supports collaborative research efforts and significantly reduces R&D costs for innovators and organizations.
  • Enable Standardization and Global Testing Support:
    Provide comprehensive testing and standardization services to ensure compliance with both domestic and international quality benchmarks, enabling Indian products to compete globally.

We aim to provide world-class infrastructure, expert support, and a collaborative platform for research, design, and development of electronic products—especially those based on lithium-ion cell technology. Through focused efforts in skill development, entrepreneurship, and standardization, we strive to nurture a sustainable, innovation-led ecosystem that supports start-ups, SMEs, and industry stakeholders alike.

How We Work

Work Process

At the Centre of Excellence (CoE), our work process is designed to seamlessly support innovation, product development, and commercialization. We follow a structured yet flexible approach that caters to the unique needs of start-ups, entrepreneurs, academic institutions, and industry players.

Engage & Evaluate

We begin by understanding the requirements of our collaborators—be it product design, prototyping, testing, or training. Our team assesses the feasibility, scope, and objectives of each project.

Design & Development

Once the project is onboarded, we provide access to our advanced tools and expert mentorship for electronic and mechanical design, including ECAD/MCAD support and design validation.

Prototyping & Testing

Our facility enables rapid prototyping of PCBs and product components, followed by rigorous testing in our state-of-the-art labs to ensure performance, reliability, and compliance with standards.

Mentoring & Incubation

For start-ups and SMEs, we offer tailored incubation support, helping them refine their products, connect with industry experts, and prepare for market readiness.

Skill Development

Throughout the process, we offer training and hands-on workshops to build technical capabilities and ensure our partners are equipped with the latest industry skills

Scale & Collaborate

We facilitate further growth through industry linkages, standardization assistance, and opportunities for collaboration, helping innovators take their solutions from lab to market.

IP & Compliance Support

We assist innovators in navigating intellectual property (IP) processes and regulatory compliance, ensuring their products are protected and aligned with national and international standards.
